I am now a Heart Rate Performance Specialist through NESTA! With this certification, I can help you optimize your training and make the time you train as effective and efficient as possible. I can not tell you how very excited I am about this because this is really where you will start to see your body change! We can really MONITOR your fitness performance and assess your improvements. Once you have attended a seminar, you can join our D3 Own Your Zone Squad where we monitor our heart rates closely and have competitions and challenges. So fun and the squad keeps you motivated! American Stroke Association's Free Online Exercise Plan Helps Boost Physical Activity

(NAPSI)-Whether in the gym, at home or on the road
traveling, you can participate in a free online exercise
program.

The Power Fitness Plan--part of the American Stroke Association's Power To End Stroke cause awareness campaign, which is nationally sponsored by the Bristol-Myers Squibb/ Sanofi
Pharmaceuticals Partnership--teaches participants daily exercises for 12 weeks to help reduce stroke risk. "We've included a lot of variety so participants don't get bored," said Andrea "Dre" Nichols-Everett, the certified fitness expert who created the plan. "The plan begins with light cardio to build endurance, then weights are added to increase lean muscle mass."

In the plan, participants start small and build strength and endurance over 90 days to encourage making exercise a habit. Participants are encouraged to plan for 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical
activity a week and can choose one of two workouts. The first focuses on working out at a gym or workout facility. The second has advice for working out at home or in a hotel.

It's 6 a.m. and rain is pelting down on Deidre Perez while she huffs and puffs after a mile sprint. It's intense enough to be a nightmare.

It's not.

Perez, 32, of Irving Park is at her weekly fitness boot camp class, where the workout is always grueling but never the same, ranging from obstacle courses and relay races to sit-ups and sprints. And for her, it is something of a dream come true.

"I was scared to go at first," Perez said. "I didn't know what to expect. I thought the instructors were going to be really mean. It took a couple of weeks to get used to it, but I went months without missing a day. I kept seeing progress every day, every week, every month......
